Hollywood Style!

Tonight our family got to be pampered for about an hour. Darin had done a job for a lady who really needed this job done but couldn't afford to pay him, so she wanted to do a trade. She owns a limo business and asked if she could trade his labor for an hour limo ride. He said sure, I have four children who would love to ride around in a limo. This was Darin and the kids' first time to ever ride in one but me being the celebrity that I am have done this once or twice before.
The kids asked if we could get one. I had to think about that one really hard because you know it really would be a nice way to travel. Darin and I up front with our little divider and the kids would have the back to themselves. Out of Sight-Out of Mind. And then reality sank back in.

I love this picture.

It was very peaceful to be able to sit by my husband and talk without having to pay attention to the road. I loved it!

Of course Gunner thought this was the best thing in the world. No seat belt or being strapped into a car seat.

He is a very weird child. He must get this from his dad. Needless to say we had a very good time. Something that will probably never happen again. When we were all done Tatum said, "Mom I'm glad that lady couldn't pay dad". Me too!

Happy Birthday Deanna!!

Today is my baby girls birthday. She turned lucky number seven. Deanna is a very sweet and loving little girl. She is always sharing her things with her brother and sisters. In fact, she got the best sharer award in preschool. Some things she loves to do, is ride her bike and scooter and she told me she loves to open presents. She is all girl but doesn't mind playing boy things with Gunner when he needs a friend. Deanna loves animals and really any living creature. Her new thing she likes to do is find lady bugs and worms and then get my bowls and fill them with dirt to make a new home for them. She loves the lady across the street who is 84 years old. Her name is Mary. Deanna and Gunner will go over there every day to get a cookie from her.

This year we started something new with the kids Birthdays. We let the kids give each other something that they made or something that was theirs. They are not allowed to buy each other gifts. It's fun to see what they come up with and some of the things are hard for them to part with but they do it so generously.
This was this morning right before church. Perfect stair steps.

Tatum gave Deanna her Hollywood style sunglasses amongst other things.

Rylee gave her a picture of herself. So thoughtful.

Gunner gave her his Dinoco car.

And a spear tire in case one falls off.

We ended her Birthday with a delicious white cake and funfetti frosting which Deanna decorated herself. Happy Birthday Deanna we love you so much and are very grateful to have you in our family!

Our First Garden!

The kids are working while Darin is supervising and I get to be the lucky one taking the pics.
The kids are planting potatoes while we watch. Aren't we such slave drivers?

This is our corn field. Can't wait to start eating some of this!

This is one of our heads of lettuce. I don't remember what kind of lettuce this is.

This is one of many zucchinis. The hard part is coming up in a couple of weeks, preserving it. Should be fun!

Cherry Festival!!

Every year in June our town has a cherry festival. It is your typical carnival with rides, fair food, contests, activities and performances. Then they end it with a town parade on Saturday. We took our kids on Saturday and we first went to the petting zoo.
Deanna and Tatum petting a sheep.

Gunner petting a Llama. I didn't get Rylee petting anything poor girl.

We bought three large snow cones and we all had a partner to share with. Rylee and Deanna cute sisters.

Gunner and Tatum. Of course Darin and I shared a snow cone which meant I didn't get that much. jk

We watched the Gem Cloggers. That was fun to watch. Tatum said she wants to take lessons.

Gunner was bored during the show so he got the camera out and had fun taking pics of himself.

This is the kids waiting anxiously for the parade to start.

FHE

On Monday night the Bishop's family invited us over for FHE. They have a 4 acre man-made lake so we did some fishin. Darin was the only one to catch one, but we all had a blast.
Tatum had a great time with their daughter who is in the same grade as her.

Rylee was a pro at casting her pole.

Deanna really enjoyed digging for worms. I don't know where she came from.

Gunner really enjoyed rolling (a.k.a. reeling) in the line.

Like father like son.

The kids really enjoyed the paddle boat. They kept begging me to go on it with them but I knew that the next morning my legs would be really sore so I opted not to.
